Question for you: Will the Real Slim Shady please stand up?
For anyone who does not know, I am the Real Slim Shady. Fun fact, a summer or two ago, an intoxicated Paul rapped Eminem’s Lose Yourself at a bar. This was my first and only experience doing karaoke. I have no regrets. But I can’t bring myself to watch the video I had my friend film of me.
It’s a challenging song with little room for breath. It’s easy for the lyrics to get ahead of you. And when you’re not quite up to speed and very much dehydrated... good luck keeping up. My performance was an absolute mess. But I have no regrets. It felt great. I AM the Real Slim Shady, after all.
Inside I know I’m not quite as crazy as I’d like to be. My life is quite tame. Ordinary, Typical. Which is not to say typical is bad. It’s just that the crazier moments are the ones I value most because they give me the most life. The most life meaning I feel the most alive and determined to seek the next life moment out...
Summer 2019 is upon us. I’m aiming for a wild, reckless summer full of ridiculous fun and more Slim Shady. Who am I kidding? I doubt I’ll get there. But I do have activities planned that I’m excited to get to. Here’s to living now rather than later. Here’s to living it up. Here’s to me being stupid and loving myself because of it... I AM the Real Slim Shady. I AM standing the f- up. And I AM taking this summer by storm.
