Swimming in an ocean of people. Hoping to find my way. A school of fish whizzes by leaving behind a trail of bubbles. The bubbles clear, and I scan the ocean floor in a search for something, anything shiny.
I have a mind I’d like to use. Attention I’d like to apply someplace, anyplace. I hope the universe offers me something...
They say to just keep swimming. And that’s all anyone ever does. But I’m always craving more.
So I bend the rules. Work against the current. Visit places I shouldn’t. Set out to discover all the mysterious, shiny objects hidden on the ocean floor.
Sometimes, I find nothing that captivates my interest. But my desire for discovery keeps me swimming onward. It’s a lonely path not often travelled, but it feels like the right one for me.
We’re in the same ocean. On the same journey. But that does not mean we are the same. My needs are different and, perhaps, less popular than yours. (But that does not mean they are any less valuable.) I don’t expect you to understand. I don’t need you to understand. I’m going to do my own thing. And you can do yours.
