Don't Let The Tacos Defeat You, Hesitancy No More

Don't Let The Tacos Defeat You

Once upon a time, I tried to quit my first job with only a few days underneath my belt. I felt that the hectic environment of fast food service was not for me. A wise woman, my manager at the time, told me: “Don’t let the tacos defeat you, Paul”.

I didn’t let the tacos defeat me. I crushed those pesky tacos and braved over four more years at Taco Bell.

Sometimes, I feel like a badass. Sometimes, I want to give myself a trophy. Or at least a pat on the back. Something awesome... beautiful... commemorative of my accomplishments, however big or small they may seem to you.

At the end of the day, I shouldn’t care what you think of my accomplishments. They are for me to own, love, and appreciate. Stepping stones and teaching tools in my life journey. The tacos may seem silly you to you. But they mean everything to me. Fast food wasn’t for me. But I faced my anxieties and fears, and grew to be a more confident and capable person because of it.

What are your tacos and how are you confronting them? How can I help?

Hesitancy No More

I have allowed hesitancy to define my life for far too long. It is time for me to rid myself of the million and one excuses holding me back. Step up to the plate and play ball. Let’s knock this one straight out of the park!

Of course, this is all easier said than done. I like to overthink. Anticipate my failures before they even occur. All in a convoluted attempt to avoid getting my hopes up that leaves me feeling... down.

I like to remind myself that no accomplishment worth mentioning was ever formed out of hesitation. That there comes a certain moment when you just have to jump and see where you land. Prepare as you must beforehand. Do all of your homework. Take a glance at your odds. But let nothing hold you back.

Life is about living. Living is about risk taking and decision making. Moving. It’s okay to think ahead. But any thought that leaves you paralyzed is not a thought worth clinging onto. Don’t allow your thoughts to become an obstacle. Pave your way through them. You’re the one in control here.
